Using QuickBooks with production and inventory tracking
QuickBooks keeps the books, and production and inventory live beside it. Simple Industry reads sales in from QuickBooks and writes nothing back.
One system for each kind of fact
An accounting system holds invoices, payments and what the shop owes. A production tool holds parts, jobs and what is on the shelf. Each fact is entered in one place, and the other system reads it or leaves it alone.
Sales are read in
With QuickBooks Online connected, Simple Industry reads your invoices and sales receipts into your sales history. You press Sync now when you want fresh numbers.
QuickBooks Desktop reports load as CSV files instead. Open orders export from QuickBooks the same way and load through the orders import, which shows a preview before anything is saved.
Nothing is written back
The data goes one way. Simple Industry does not send purchase orders or invoices into QuickBooks, and nothing is written to your books. If a purchase order or an invoice has to exist in both places, it is entered in both.
What the sales read leaves out
Credit memos and refund receipts are not read, so returns are not netted out of the sales history. A bundle line on an invoice is left out of the totals, which undercounts that sale.
